July 17 Gallery Night - 6:00 pm tour details announced!

This July and August, join us for a special monthly tour departing from the Gateway Center at Roger Williams Park!

We will leave at 6:00 pm, and finish our tour around 8:00 pm. This is a walking tour, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather! This tour will be led by Gallery Night Guide Irene Yibirin with Guest Guide Ariel Tavares. We will visit the following locations and exhibits:

La Galería del Barrio presents Somos Rhode Island: Latino Portraits, showcasing a collection of 30 portraits created by artist René Gómez. Behind each portrait, there is a unique story from an individual from Rhode Island’s Latino community, highlighting the diversity of experiences, challenges overcome, and meaningful contributions of Latinas, Latinos, and Latinx individuals. Together, these faces form a vibrant mosaic of migration, identity, and cultural heritage – underscoring the lasting impact of Latino history in shaping the state’s present and future.

The Avenue Concept presents Local: A Group Show of Collaborators, exploring asset-based thinking within Providence’s queer and BIPOC communities—highlighting resilience, creativity, and cultural wealth through art that centers identity, place, and collective strength.

The Roger Williams Park Gateway Center presents “Blue Collar Rhody”, a collection capturing the strength, solidarity, and cultural pride of Cape Verdean longshoremen whose work helped shape the identity and history of the Fox Point neighborhood. Through powerful visuals and storytelling, the gallery celebrates their enduring legacy.

Some notes to help you out the night of the event!

  • If your plans change, please remember to cancel your Eventbrite reservation so that someone else can enjoy the tour.

  • Tours occasionally run late. We recommend allowing buffer time if you're planning on attending another event after ours.
