“My name is Kevin Eager.

I live in Rhode Island with my wife, three kids and dog Tug. We've lived here in Lil' Rhody for just over the past decade. I grew up in Reston Virginia with my parents and my ten siblings.Yes, ten!  I've always had a love of art. I got it from my talented dad. On weekends we would all paint together or hop in the family wagon and drive to the Virginia countryside and he would sketch old barns.

I studied painting and drawing, getting my Fine Arts degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. My time there showed me that art embodies limitless ways to communicate.  Being in Rhode Island has fostered my love for the water. I have always been drawn to things that have great color and a lot of wear to them; lobster boats, buoys, barns, lighthouses and old box car trains. All of these are true New England subjects. I love the idea of the lobster boats going out, casting out their nets, battling the elements and return to their harbor wearing all of their battle scars. They hold beautiful colors. I take photographs from my travels all around New England and chose my subjects from those photos.

My approach to painting is the building of color with acrylic paint through layers. I then can distress, scraping away color where I want to show age.

I work in a shared mill studio in Pawtucket,Rhode Island. Much to my wife's chagrin I still love to paint at our kitchen table. I hope you enjoy looking at my art as much as I love making it.”
