David Lewalski's "Photographic Biography" at Dryden Gallery (June 29th-August 12th, 2017)

Dryden Gallery at Providence Picture Frame is pleased to present the David Lewalski Photographic Biography Exhibition from 6/29/17 to 8/12/17 in our Red Gallery. Opening reception is June 29th from 5-8pm.

David Lewalski has been involved in photography and related fields since the late 1980’s. While living in France from 1988-1995, he took classes at Universite de Paris III and Ecole Nationale Superieure Louis Lumiere. He also worked in the pre-press commercial printing industry at Graphic Inter and Photogravure du Parc and as a photographer for dance and theatre productions. His experiences in France led him to appreciate both the power of the black and white image and the tradition of French street photography. His own photographic work often sought to capture the “choreography” of daily life on the streets of Paris with black and white film. He has shown work at Theatre des Amandiers, La Mouette Rieuse, Bisto le Bleu Cerise, and has exhibited dance images at the Teatro Libertador (National Theater) Cordoba, Argentina.

In Rhode Island, he has worked in digital color correction for Giclee printing and has shown work at the French Library in Boston, the Alliance Francaise, Pot au Feu Restaurant and AS220 in Providence and at Jessica Hagen Fine Art and Design in Newport. He participated in a group exhibit of the Photographic Society of Rhode Island at the Dryden Gallery. Currently David’s passion is for landscape photography and abandoned structures. He particularity enjoys using the various digital processes available to contemporary photographers in the service of creating well crafted prints.

David is married to Laurence Riviere and spends time between homes in Providence and Warwick.
